The Lehman College English Department Writing Competitions are open to all undergraduate and graduate students. Winners get a check – most prizes start at $50. Submit your academic and creative work to as many competitions as you wish. Submit early to beat the rush! The deadline for all completed submissions is February 29, 2020.

      You will be asked to attach your work as either a Word or PDF file. Manuscripts must be typed and double-spaced (except for poetry).  Submissions must be ERROR-FREE. Proofread your work! 

      Note: Your name must NOT appear anywhere on the attachment that you submit. Don’t worry; the submissions roster will help the Department notify all winners. You will be asked to provide your name and contact information (including EMPLID, private email address, SS number, and cell phone number) when you submit your work by clicking on the appropriate award below. 

      Departmental writing prizes and academic awards, along with English honors for qualifying students, are presented at the English Awards Ceremony on May 6, 2020. Family and friends will be welcome.
